War of the Worlds painting

No, it's not based of the movies (stupid modern-day versions!)

War of the Worlds has always been my favorite sci fi novel, I've always loved making images from the story.

Still a WIP, and I need to play with the colors and such, but C&C are welcome.

I'm not really sure what's going on with the joint. lol. I had a more detailed sketch under there, but I have a bad habbit of losing the detail when I do a more painterly style. I hope I can get some of that back in there.

the first graphic design teacher i ever had (Mike Trim) did the original record cover art of those tripod type machines, he was a great teacher.

Hehe, that Record book made a big impact on me. that was the first time I heard of wotw. I especially like how creepy he made the red weed. (totaly wrong to the book, but very effective)
It's sorta "done" now.. The war machines have way more tenticles, but it got confusing.

Totally, the setting of London in 1898 is one of the things that makes War of the Worlds so frightening... and good!
