It seems like alot of vetrans say they accept the status of their position, yet universally reflectively have a undertone of "if only I were in charge". So it seems to me that would create alot of stress.
Alot of "jobs" are like this I realize. So I am wondering this is for all really. What is your passion or goals? Other than family or your jobs, what do that you feel strongly about and what to strive for? When you get home from work, other than the tube or joystick. What holds your time? How do you express or grow yourself?
If you had to look back and say "this is what makes me", what would that be?

I have never made any moves toward management in 14 years, because I can't see myself doing anything but 'making stuff'. Were I not making stuff, I could not do the job. Someday I may be in charge of other people making stuff, but it will have to be making stuff that I really care about. So far I haven't found myself in that environment.
I love bringing my (delusional) visions to life in 2D and 3D. I rarely achieve more than 50% satisfaction with this, but when it comes, in whatever quantity, it is sweet and fulfilling.

Also a little on Vassago's side with the electronics faffery... I recently installed a whole new pickup arrangement into a Les Paul I have here, and it worked first time ... I was pleasantly surprised!
Things that also really interest me (and I could see being a main passion) are reading, creating music, decorating, and building furniture..
Lots of fun!
Modelling and drawing's cool too, and I'm happy (and astonished) I've developed a talent with it, but I'll always love writing.

moving on ... it's generally Vincent Price, open fires, leather-bound books, pub dogs, a nice bit of meat. I strive for comfort.

Noticing the little Ultraman sprite in your avatar gave that away.
Personally, I have a unique situation. I work from home, coding AutoCAD apps. I set out goals on a daily basis, and when I complete them, I either move on to some of the next days goals, or....work on game stuff/play games.
I also must create to feel fullfilled. But creating something that says something versus a pretty object.
My eventual goal is to combine these to help inspire others.
I've done martial arts for the last 14 years, and Filipino styles for the last 12. It's just a beautiful form of expression and growth. And it's fun hitting people with sticks!

And then there are those guilty pleasures most of us keep to ourselves. Ror must have had some good booze going thru his viens when he posted that =P
As for me I like art. Almost as broad as Hawkins "japan" preply but really I like anything creative. If my wife is making holiday cards I normally jump in and design them for her. I don't watch much TV unless I am playing a console game or watching a movie. If I do watch TV its the history chanel.
Really when it comes down to what my passion is, its art. Looking at it, making it, helping with ideas to make it. Giving feedback about how to make it better, I just freakin love art.
Eating - eating great food at home or out, going to the pub, games, pornography.
