I'm starting to reimplement 3d models in my game engine and I was wondering in what orientation models are usually made. I myself prefer the z-axis as up, but generally computer graphics have the y-axis up.
So in what orientation do you usually model things? And at what scale (100s of units, 1s of units, or do you never look at the units)?

y is up if your are over 30.
That's my experience anyway.
z is up if you are under 30 years of age.

Hey, I am not that old yet
Actually it really doesn't matter to me at all, I just go with the application's default.
Wings3d has Y up, so I use that, but GTKradiant (for mapping) has Z up.
I don't really think about it when modeling, as long as it looks right in whatever program I'm using I'm happy.
