I assume most of you a) already have worked with this stuff or b) have already seen this but just in case, the details on the Xbox2 have been put out, directly from the horses mouth.
They had also posted the specs for the alpha development kits so the final specs will be different but very likely similar:
- CPU: 3 PowerPC cores each running at 3,0 GHz, 32 KB L1 instructioncache and 32 KB L1 datacache. The 3 coreas share 1 MB of L2 cache.
- GPU: ATI videoprocessor from the generation following the X800 models running at 500 MHz which support Shader Model 3.0.
- Memory: 256 MB RAM
- Optical drive: 7gb DVD-9 running at 12-speed.
- Memory units: memory cartridges with a memory varying from 64 to 1.024 MB.
- Harddisc: Noting known yet besides that game caching will probably require 2gb.
- Camera: 1.2 megapixels USB 2.0 camera.
- Sound chip: The console won't have a regular audiochip hebben. Decompression of sound will be handled by hardware but the rest of the sound will be handled by software. DirectSound 3D has been replaced by X3DAudio.
I'm sure that GUI art will change by the time it comes out. It looks a lot like a simple mockup for presentations. I'll bet they sexy it up for the final version.
