C+A: Yeah...i've got some Opeth here too...and i've seen "As I Lay Dying" live, supporting Lamb Of God and Throwdown Good bands I've not heard of Zao though...
I've always had a place in my heart for Fear Factory, Six Feet Under and Sepultura. With all, some albums are better than others, all depends on your metal-taste. I find them all very driving and good to work to.
i love Refused. The shape of punk to come is the best CD, i bought the remastered DVD, i prefer the original imo. Dennis lyxzen (sp?) joined with some other people who lost their band to create (The) Internation Noise Conspiracy. Ive got all 4 albums, but their nothing like refused, lots of organs and jazz-like grooves.
new noise, refused is fuckin dead, summerholidayvspunkroutine, awesome awesome...
BUT, if you want an extremely amazing band:
Thrice.
Listen to deadbolt and you'll be hooked. i honestly believe every song they ever made is good. i do believe their new cd is about to drop this month so hurry up and get caught up.
man keep this thread alive, music is my #2 passion.
my friend dropped a Mars Volta cd on me the other day, and they are freaking great.
what i did not know ( i cant freakin believe i didnt know...) is that some ( or at least one) former members of at the drive-in make up The Mars Volta.
forgot to recommend Atreyu - The Curse CD. i think the song "Right Side of the Bed" was the best metal song from last year or at least it's my favorite
