it might have started to update and then you closed steam before it was finished. if unsure, check the properties and see how much % you have. if it's not at 100% you can't play until it is.

Odd. I don't have a single issue with Steam. It's never been slow, or caused any other issues.

As far as MS/Windows goes, I haven't had a single prob since I got XP/XP Pro.
