...is quite the feeling of accomplishment. Vassago was kind of to take some in-game shots of STACKED this weekend for me to check out. It's silly, but I couldn't stop checking the pictures out.

I had the same feeling when I saw my first custom model in CounterStrike That's what got me hooked on 3D art. It's a nice feeling.

I think I actually still have some of your old stuff somewhere on a CD. You were a part of the old OCSS/ZPCSS/CS-Skins.net scene, weren't you? Ah, those were the days. I still hang out at what's left of that community, but it's nothing like it was before (no one really plays CS anymore). The entire forum is basically just one big off-topic, but it's good for a laugh now-and-then.
Keyser... Vassago, gauss, poop, flaagan, bearkub, oxynary, noelcower, Gwot, ono, Earthquake, myself, and a few others play CS:S somewhat regularily. "no one really plays CS anymore".. pfft!
Ror, you're totally right, I remember the first time I saw Q4 Gladiator running around in Quake3, thanks to the Brothers Grim's excellent animations, it really takes it to a whole new level.
It's also nice in a production situation, having the satisfaction of seeing your work blend in and complement other artists' work in the final game environment.
It wasn't the first thing I put into a game engine, but when I first got the ghast I modeled from some old Call of Cthulhu sourcebook into Unreal, running around and trying to bite me with UnrealScript snipped from other pawns, I thought, "wow, this is aaalll right." I still get that precise sensation now and then, and it's probably what keeps me going.

Wow, I am sure you mean that in a good way, like when all the pain, sweat, blood, ripping and tearing of parts that should't really rip or tear is over and you have a wonderful little new version of you in your arms. Well now that I think of it developing a game MIGHT almost be as painful sometimes?
The first time I was playing UT2k3 on a public server and I saw someone else wearing my manga spawn model, they blew me to itty bitty pieces because I was looking not playing. The same thing happened with my straw golem model. It is a wonderful wierd feeling to see your stuff running around and to find out poeple actually like it.
Well, obviously it wasn't my intent to belittle the pain of childbirth. But I mean it's like a real Frankenstein "It's alive. It's ALIVE! MUAHAHAHHA!" moment when you first see your creation running around in game. The buzz I got from seeing my first little PPM kill people in Quake 2, made me change career.
Hehe
KeyserSoze - yup, that's me :P
If you still have my "mini-gat" on CD, I'd love to see a pic. I remember being rather happy when I released that. I was the first non-valve employee who could get a rotating barrel weapon to work correctly.
Damn, that was like 6 years ago :P I wasn't even in the game industry then. Ahh, good times...

When it runs around ingame, its like the work is transformed, life is breathed into it and you almost don't recognize your creation.
I recently did some texturing and prop modeling for a mod for UT 2k4, was awesome to see screenshots of them in the actual levels.
