Its called sub-patches in lightwave, i think it would be sub-division surfaces if i used weights for it, but i didnt so i think its called nurbs then.... if anyone knows better feel free to correct me
Yo,
TBH, If I were you, I would wait before creating a bunch of new heads. I would go back on the first head you did, and fix it properly before moving on.
Because now, you are just making the same mistakes over and over again on each new models.
You need to learn Proper face struction, element that define the human face and such. All of you face as of yet, are the same, that have all thoses weak feature, Nothing that realy
define them as human or even make them Unique. The edgeloop is not that much of a problem in ur case, u seem to handle it allright, but u just have all thoses loops of poly there for nothing, They dont Form anything, they are just standing there for the show it seem. Your mouth, eyes, ears, cheek are the same again.
Before building new heads, take a step back. then stick to one, and build it properly, It doesnt matther if it take u weeks, Just concentrate and make it right. After that make others dude.
I dont really agree with anything you said, i've never improved from constantly reworking a model thats just retarded. Every time I redo a model I get faster at it, i come out with better mesh flow and I may may some of the same mistakes but they become less and less apparent the more i do them and im learning to spot them easier.
ok tweaked the ears quite a bit, lots more shape to them now. Also added some more definition to her cheeks and gave the material some spec, seems to show the model off better.
Cool man. Seems like you could push the forehead back in a bit? It's got a kind of 'jutting out' feel to it right now. I would also lessen the geometrical definition of the eyebrows If that makes sense? Btw, I actually do see you improving from model to model.
Er, eh? Did I say anyone said that? No. I simply said what I thought. That he was improving from model to model.
Since you wish to discuss the earlier comment though, for what its worth I disagree with the principle. Sticking on the same model forever and ever and iterating on one model until it's perfect will make you bored rigid of that model. Hardly inspirational.
EDIT: oh and by the way, If you are b1ll, then it doesn't take you long for that one model to be perfect. But for the rest of us, it does
Right, and you also are limited by the restraints of your cage, in the time it takes to fix up all the errors on an old cage i can build an entirely new one.
One thing I've started to do actually which has been really interesting: In all I've learnt about high poly modeling in the last year, I've recently started to go back and dig out models from ages ago. It's kinda fun to fix 'em up with your new found knowledge.
I get what u mean daz,
What Im saying is just that earthquake, always seem to stop working on is head model to early, He doesnt spend that Extra time to do the final touch , that realy define a head from others.
BAH anyway,
OH and LOL daz, Its because my appartment get pretty cold in the 8months of winter here, so I only have a limited amount of time to get a head to a certain quality before my hands turn blue AH AH!
hey man! pretty damn good job. ou're definately getting better all the time. the head is still looking a little sharp in some places, or.. hard, rather.. come to think of it, i think the nose is the only reason i feel that way, perhaps. the edges are somehow too sharp, maybe? feels a little like the nose of a manequin (spelling?) anyway. you're mesh flow is pretty good as well. i think it'd be a good idea to cary the concentric circles around the mouth up more, aroun the nose, and to bring the circles around the eye out more, i find that that defines the shapes fairly well, but that being said, it looks like you've got a decent thing going on, so meshflow doesn't really matter i guess.

can you describe the modelling technique on this lovely head? (is it nurbs or mesh smooth or whatever?)
I'm one of the uninitiated when it comes to high poly modelling and would love to know your process and choice of modelling technique.
though, I think some lines are too hard, especially on the eyebrows, bottom of the nose and bottom eyelid.
the ear is a bit too flat, give it volume dammit !!!
finally, I think the forehead is a bit too much ahead.
good work anyway
