The infamous radical journalist and problem drinker, Dr.(?) Hunter S. Thompson, shot himself yesterday at home in Aspen. I guess he'd call it 'doing the Hemingway'.
i was thinking that it's sad for him to have felt the need to do that, but he's not one to go quietly into the nite in a nursing home.
"There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die."
Bear: I'll be joining you, albeit many miles away. I recently upgraded to the criterion edition of Fear and Loathing and enjoyed listening to the guy himself in the extras and commentaries ( my reason for upgrading ).
It sounds like the right way to go out for him, who wants to hang on to the bitter end anyway.
I'll raise a glass for the man. I'm currently listening to Paul Oakenfold's 'Nixon's Spirit' (feat. Hunter S. Thompson) as a kinda tribute.
I'll watch Gilliam's Fear and Loathing tonight if I get the chance.
You know what's ironic? In my English class, we had to a biographical analysis of an American author, and my friend chose Hunter S. Thompson, who shot himself 3 days later.

Well, I guess he did it in a fashion most befitting him. I will be watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas in honor of the man.
Take care Hunter. Gonzo journalism for life.

Sad, but a strangely apt end.
Hmmm,I always thought he'd die of alcohol poisoning. although you'd think he wouldn't want to end up a famous writer clich
You should off yourself before you get regonition and money.......well, not then either.
Cheers to the man.
All we can hope is we leave something that good behind us to be remebered by. C'ya Hunter. Good innings!
