Bearkub: Does the game have the "DC Final" patch? I haven't been able to get in the server. It asks for the password and after I type it in I get "Failed to connect".
Yes, it does have DC_Final on it. I double checked the other day when you guys said you were having problems with it. I will check and see why it isn't loading when I get home.
As soon as I dig up a link for it, I will get you (Grindy and Sal) remote management to the server. There is a sexy little GUI that you install that will allow you to remote manage. At least that way, if I am not around, you guys will have the option to kick chodes off. =]
I have all the data typed into the "Add Server" thingy. If I hit "join" it says "failed to connect". If I hit "ok" it says "Cannot locate server". I go into other DC Final servers who are all up to date without a hitch. I have the firewall off but that made no difference and it didn't interfere with other servers when it was on. I'm getting real torqued over here. Grrrrrrrrrr
try that, Sal. You may, for some reason, not be able to resolve the name to the IP. Which is weird, because it even showed up in the server browser for me. *shrugs* Let me know what happens. Thanks.
It shouldn't. I am pretty sure I have punkbuster turned off. (I think..) I can't check right now because I am at work and I don't have my remote manager installed on this machine. *grumble*
Sal: sometime soon lets try to set up a server for each other and see what happens. I'll host and you can try to connect and vise versa, to find which side has the problem. I'll have some time tonight.
I tried the Punkbuster on and off....no difference.
Will...what's a good time? I'm open. It's 5:00 pm here
now.
OK, get this. My server is up now. It's the DC Nutsac-erator .7 IP: 192.168.1.101
BTW if I do a Google search for nibbler etc. I get John and Bernie's wedding page?
OK....kubber, Will, one more oddity. When I had my server up the addy was different than my regular IP. Wassup wit dat? My actual IP is 69.142.41.219 not the above 192.168.1.101 ? WTF?
that 192.dadada address is an internal LAN address. you have it broadcasting LAN only and not to the net. I think it has something to do with your router...
Does anyone play the regular BF 1942...or better yet BFVietnam ?
I tried the DC thing but for some reason I wasn't to thrilled by it.. Perhaps I got so accustomed to BFV and BF1942 that DC didn't have the same style / feel to it. Oh well..
If anyone is interested in a BFV game or two try installing "X-Fire" and look me up ("Hunter0001") (X-Fire is a gaming buddylist that lets you track and or chat with your friends who are playing online games.. Click and join feature make it easy to jump into the same server they are in. I believe it actually has the support of quite a few of the game companies too..)
I prefer regular BF1942 over DC... that said, I don't even have BF1942 installed at the moment. But it's one hell of a fun game, I wouldn't mind gunning you guys down in a hail of hot lead sometime!
We should see if we can have a game sometime, Daz. I haven't played it for ages though, so I'll suck!
Just for clarification, is the Polyfraggers server running a regular BF1942 server, or is it just DC? Is it possible to switch between the two?
Now youre talking my language.. I just happen to have a few days off too.. No work, No woman and WAY too much snow (18 ") Im there.. (Thur 3/3) let me know if anyone is interested..
I haven't tried to hit the server yet but how about saturday? It'll have to be early so our euro-fraggers can still be wide awake...... so waddyathink? They are 5-6 hours later than our east coast.
I reckon I can manage most times on Saturday. 3pm your time, onwards? :P
Gnaah! I just got my BF1942 CDs back off a friend I lent them to, and Disc 1 has a crack down the middle! It refuses to read in my drive!
Edit: Got round it, managed to download an ISO for CD1, then just inserted the real CD2 for completing the install, it seems to have worked. I don't mind "pirating" stuff like that if I already own the damn thing... thank gawd for cable internet speeds...
I'm all patched up to the latest version, should be good to go now!
Well, I'm in a world o' shit. I do not see the server in the browser and get "Failed to Connect". I don't get it. I play in both reg BF1942 and DC servers. My patches are all up to date. Waaaaaaahhhhh!
That's weird.
All-Seeing Eye scans it, tells me what map it's running, and gives me a ping and everything... I can even see it in BF1942's server browser... yet when I try to connect, it gives me a "Failed to connect" message... what's with that?
Oh, and I probably won't be able to play until after 6pm your time, since I'm going out to the pub tonight... heh.
Right on! YAY! I got in and it's runnin' fine. I gots to go to the gym right now. I'll see if anyone's playin' when I get back. Prolly like 9:30 EST. (I miss my Apache)

It is set to not do a content check, I know that.

I tried connecting to your server at 8:40 PM with no luck.
"failed to connect"
not sure if you were still running or not.
Cancel that. Calling it a night. We'll figger sumpin' out.
Sal out.
Sorry dood. I bailed at 8:47. Maybe tonight? I'm running the Quake3 thingy this afternoon at 3. C ya there?

Sorry, same problem here. I'm sure it's me but I don't know what. 4:36 Eastern. I'll check back later.
