Ubi Soft--Might be working there

Just went through an excellent phone interview with one of the animators at UbiSoft Montreal. It was so good that I forgot to mention that I was an American Citizen. The question never came up and the HR Person was stuck in traffic.

Am I screwed? I don't want the same thing that happened to me with Mainframe.

No, they thought i was american and they gave me a job. They only found out after I signed that I wasn't American when they tried to process a new Social Insurance Number.

You'll be okay. Just be sure to get your responsibilities 'in writting' and that it lines up with what they say on the phone, I had a different job title and set of responsibilities than what I was expecting when I arrived.

Everyone there is 'very' talented and the working quarters are...tight to put it bluntly. There might be a cultural adjustment, Quebec is beautifully unique part of North America.

As to ubiSoft, they treat their employees very well, but also have high standards for hiring.

Basically what happened with Mainframe(in BC) was that they called me and everything was great. They liked my work, liked my attitude, etc. I casually mentioned I wasn't a Canadian Citizen and then they said they they'd have to talk to HR about that.

That's it. They only hire foreigners for Senior Positions.

MoP - Don't worry. Alot of US folks don't really know that Canada is there either...They're missing out.

I'll let you guys know how it goes. It's either this or Texas

it's too much hassle I think for mainframe to hire foriengers as people are hired on a contract basis and once the series/show they're working on they let ya go. but usually you get hired back for another show and such. couple classmates worked on the spiderman series and the barbie. apparently animators did some really sick and twisted things to barbie in the late hours of the night. ie her getting crushed by a huge boulder and having blood spurt everywhere.

Well I suppose it's good news but I also got an offer for a contract position over at DNA Helix to work on the Jimmy Neutron Specials(They cancelled a 4th season) but I'm due for another interview over at UbiSoft as Animator(maybe).

Hahah Why'd this have to happen now? Everything was so peaceful and quiet. I'm more interested in Ubi as the work there is stronger but DNA is a sure thing.
