Did two more heads these last 2 days..=) Iv Gone crazy with the heads. Think I'm gonna do something else now for a change.=) Both are presented in direct3d, however I havent done any specular maps etc, just plain textures.
No im pretty sure its not the camera angle, looking at it again it seems to be a problem with both models... Not that everyone has thier eyes perfectly centered in their head or anything tho, thats just what i've always been told is the right way to do it.
Wow, nothing much to crit here. The only technical detail I can offer is that the voodoo guy's face paint doesn't actually look like paint smeared onto his skin. It's got a lot of his skin tone in it. If the paint had a brighter value, it would stand out more. That's about it!
If I didn't know better, I would swear those had come straight out of the Half Life 2 SDK. That is some exquisite texturing. Solid meshes too. Are you going to be importing those models for the Source engine? I would love to play around with either one of them in FacePoser. Absolutely top-notch material.
THe only thing I don't like is the gloss on the womans lower lip...it looks like she just ate a frosty donut . Other then that very nice work all around .
Holy cow! The girl's face is the best, i agree w/ pogonip her lips are a bit too glossy, and i think the lower half of her face (mostly chin area) looks pale. Awesome man!
Awesome work man. Very nice treatment of the surfaces. I would say my main critique is that they look very dry. Even with the white sparkly lips on the chick, she looks like a painted marble bust instead of a soft real person. I think its how the color of the shadows are working. they seem a bit hard. I still don't know exactly what contributes to this look. I know I give this critique a lot, and I want to know what exactly it is that I am seeing. For now I just think that you need to figure a way to get the feeling of the surface to be soft and a bit moist. I get the feeling if I poked either of them with my finger the skin wouldn't yeild at all.
Go Voodoo magic!
Earthquake. Yeah, you right about the eyes, they are a bit "off" on the women. Not much tough, it a combination of that goofy headgear, small shin and cheeks and the camera angle that makes it a lot worse.
Richard Kain. I havent had a look on the hl2 source material or the engine yet. Im gonna leave them as plain 3d for now. But Im looking forward to play around with hl2 when I get the time and energy.
Pogonip, Ironbearx. Yeah. The gloss is way to much.=) But I kinda liked it so I left it there.
Poopinmymouth. Thanks. I see what you mean on the frailness of the skin. Im defiantly gonna have a look on that this weekend. Ill post an update when I do.
Hawken.
Its just a couple of screencaptures from the 3dsmax viewport. I set the sceen up with 1 omnilight and 2 directional lights. No rendered vertexlightning or something. Thats cheating.=D
............I just want you to know that I hate you, palm.... with a passion. No one deserves to have that much skill!
Just one complaint. The under side of the chick's nose seems to be the only false part of her face, and that's only because you got a hard edge there. I'd soften that up.
