Very strange issue in Firefox here. Well, actually i.e too which is what makes it even more weird.

I get this text: [AD-SIZE] where I should be getting thumbnail images on a lot of websites.

I often run ad-aware and hijack this and other stuff, since I've had problems before. But they don't seem to find anything. In any case, isn't it a bit odd that it affects both browsers?

I just don't get what this is, and google isn't helping.

If anyone knows I'd appreciate it.

Is this at home or work? If it's at work, this is usually caused by some sort of firewall or content filtering that is setup on the network. It "should" only filter out advertisments but yours must be setup incorrecty.

If its at home, its possible your ISP is running all your web traffic through a proxy/content filter and its causing the problem.

Either way I don't think its a problem with your machine.

pyromania: you hit the nail on the head thanks man. I just disabled my firewall and it's no longer doing it. I'll have to play with the settings to see what I have set up wrong. Thanks again.

Was it blocking all incoming cookies? A lot of ad delivery is based on the placement of a cookie and interpreting that when serving images. If the sites you were visiting required that you be sent a cookie in order to load images, that might have shut them down.

Actually AD-SIZE sounds more like it thought the image has the right size for an ad and was therefore blocking it.
