Actor Ossie Davis, who most of us here remember his part as Mr. President in Bubba Hotep or from Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing", was found dead in his hotel today apprently from natural causes. He was 87 years old. Fairwell Mr. Davis.
Robert Guillaume, Morgan Freeman and Sidney Poitier are still around, but none have anything resembling Ossie's "you want me to be your grandpa, don't you?" type charm, alas.
[edit: AH! Bill Cobbs is the man for the job. Hadda look up his name on IMDB. He played the maintenance guy/narrator in the Hudsucker Proxy. Truly grandpa material]
I usually roll my eyes at these dead celebrity threads but in this case, I think I'm gonna miss the big lug.

Who does that leave now as the grand old man of African-American theater?
