Ati mobility radeon 9000

I'm trying to install drivers on my girlfriends laptop, and it won't accept the catalyst drivers, saying "there is no soft or hardware found for this install" or something to that effect.
Now, i hda a look around the website, and cant find a special series of drivers for mobility.
I also had a look around google, and i can find them there, but i'm guessing they should be on the ati website as well?
I'd rather get them from there (safe and up-to-date) than from some dodgey other website.
Does anyone know more about this?

I would go to the laptop manufactures website and get drivers from them. Since laptop's are custom built there is no standard on how a video card is configured inside the laptop. I've had the same problem with a Compaq lap, I had to use the drivers from Compaqs site to get it to work.

laptop vendor drivers are preferrable but often outdated...

Damn, I wish I'd known about that. My laptop manufacturer provides the Radeon Mobility drivers, but they're from 2003 or something... why can't ATI provide working drivers for the Mobility cards?

The manufacturers website doesn't offer drivers, and even if they would they'd be outdated like, well... something really outdated.
