The last boards we had, the ones on the dynamic server, were first locked when Gamespy suffered an intrusion through one of the other servers in the system. All the servers were turned off and we were without boards for a week until we brought these boards online. Then Gamespy turned the servers back on but had everyone locked out of it. The boards still worked from a viewing point of view, but that was it. At that point we locked them and promised to archive or integrate them into the new boards, once we were allowed into the server. A couple months had gone by and we still werent let back in. Then Gamespy decided that had a security problem with CGI running on those servers and turned off that support. Well thats when those old boards stopped working period as they ran on CGI. Now the new boards still run on PHP so we could in theory bring them over and make it all work. But at this point we realized that these boards one way or another are the new home. If they get moved to Gamespy well be moving them, not replacing them. We also have some reasons to not move them as were planning on integrating them with the polycount v2.0 system. Yes, were still working on it, weve been investigating several approaches to do it. Its been a series of trial and errors. Finding existing or partial code solutions and modifying them to our goals has been the bulk of the time. The question still remains on what to do with the old boards. Id like to see them archived still, but I dont know what can or cant happen at this point. If we can archive them, we will.
Hope this clears up some of the questions and intentions of whats going on.
