Hey guys
well first off thanks to those of you that have answered my dumbass questions both in the 2d/3d disscussion and on MSN..thanks alot guys
And so...heres what I came up with:-
http://www.hedgeart.com/wips/shack1.jpghttp://www.hedgeart.com/wips/shack2.jpghttp://www.hedgeart.com/wips/shack3.jpg
Nothing special but i did learn an absolute ton while doing this little off the cuff project and i can finally make half desent tileable textures lol
.
Anyway the thing that bothers me the most is the damn bulb area in the lampost,as im simply not so sure how to go about texturing or gneerally making it look realistic so any help with that would be much apreciated.
Also do you have any hints about doing grass (waits for comical laughter to die down)...like planes of grass becuase although i have pictures ive taken of long grass specifically for this purpose im finding it really hard to select or define certain areas as theres to much going on in the image(s)....so for this shack painted my own but for future reference how is it done normally?
and heres something a little extra I done jsut before christmas, never got round to uploading/pimping them.:-

The design is a litle bit boring. Just a rectangle, nothing out of the ordinary. The brickwork thing is interesting, though.
The textures look OK to me, but they look too tiled...even though you can't see the tiling at all it all looks the same exact color and everything... I would try using vertex coloring to break it up a little (if I knew how).
The grass texture on the ground doesn't look like the right scale. It looks like huge grass.
I don't know about painting the lamp...but all I can say is get reference.
Good first piece! I've been wanting to do some practice env. pieces too. I should start...

The thing that bothers me most about the shack, are the window textures. They are far too bright for a dirty shack like that, and it looks like the "dirt" accumulated in them is an upside-down shadow.
As far as the bulb on the light goes...it's HUGE
Should be half that size, if even. As far as texturing goes, if it's lit, that's pretty easy. Just make it really bright yellow/white, around the area of the bulb.
Jeff:- Yeah not very intresting but I wnated to concentrate on the texture aspect mainly as thats my main problem when it comes to enviroments, but now as I know i can do them i can make my next project much more complex and intresting .
Cheers Vassago ill have a mess around.
thanks for the feedback
