Alyx for hl2 is over eight thousand polies. There are quake 3 models with three thousand polies. So if you can`t optimize it, it is still gonna work in the games. Maybe a little heavier, but it will work.
Pretty early wip on the texture, but it shows the theme it's gonna be. The stuff on the belly is just temporary, was just playing with a 3rd color. It's too bright there, think I'll darken it a lil...

I'd lose some details where it isn't as noticeable, like the joints. Not by taking out items, but by reducing the poly count.
