Leading Southern California developer seeks a Background Modeler for PSP
Location: West Coast, Southern California
Leading game developer on the West Coast is seeking the best and brightest game developers in the games industry to help build their pipeline for their next generation platform. They are now moving into full production on a brand new, original, high-profile project funded by a top-5 publisher slated for the Playstation Portable (PSP).This studios 30+ years of combined design / game experience have allowed them to lay out the core design framework for their project.
CURRENT PROJECT
Unannounced Character Action Game (Sony PSP)
This is not a launch title for the PSP, so they are going to be taking their time on the game. It's an original spin on a hugely successful franchise and is backed by a Top 5 Publisher in the US and abroad.
BACKGROUND MODELER
Background modelers take concept art and level designs and turn them into 3D scenes that are both stunningly beautiful and fun to interact in.
You will be assembling these scenes, using both instanced and non-instanced geometry, by adding your own personal sense of composition to 2D level layout maps and concept sketches given to you.
You will be asked to model a vast range of environments, model and edit simplified collision geometry to fit game play requirements and keep in mind very strict frame rate and memory constraints.
Our modelers typically work on one level each and are solely responsible to see this level completed on schedule.
You need a good sense of balance and an artistic style which fits with our current project. Experience with Maya is a plus. You should expect to take a modeling test in Maya.
Submitted reels and portfolios must include samples of previous work, 3D turntables, and an exact breakdown of your specific contribution to the material submitted along with resume.
