Leading Southern California developer seeks a Senior Game Designer for PSP
Location: West Coast, Southern California
Leading game developer on the West Coast is seeking the best and brightest game developers in the games industry to help build their pipeline for their next generation platform. They are now moving into full production on a brand new, original, high-profile project funded by a top-5 publisher slated for the Playstation Portable (PSP).This studios 30+ years of combined design / game experience have allowed them to lay out the core design framework for their project.
CURRENT PROJECT
Unannounced Character Action Game (Sony PSP)
This is not a launch title for the PSP, so they are going to be taking their time on the game. It's an original spin on a hugely successful franchise and is backed by a Top 5 Publisher in the US and abroad.
SENIOR GAME DESIGNER
Currently looking for a Senior Game Designer to join our development team. His/Her duties would include helping out on our current project as well as starting research on their next game, most likely, a next-generation console title (PS3 or Xbox2). Console experience is a must, preferably with action/adventure titles under their belt.
The right person could eventually become their Game Director
Duties and Responsibilities:
Creative Writing (Depending on how skilled the applicant is, could become a big part of their job)
Creating new game-play mechanics
Keeping tracks of the game's assets
Level Design (Using 2D paper maps or simple 3D models with Maya)
Creating design documents to describe the game/levels to others on the team
Supervising artists and programmers to make sure the levels get done and get enough polish
Constantly testing the game
Playing other games and be able to have a very critical eye
Computer skills would be the use of Word, Maya (optional) and tools from our production pipeline
Requirements:
3-5+ years gaming experience, preferably working on Action or Adventure games
Console Experience (Playstation, Microsoft, Nintendo)
