I really don't know what to think of this sequel. I mean, to me, if Vin Diesel is not in it, then it really is not the same. Ice cube really should just stick to rap, combing hair, and music videos. The Brotha's acting abilities are so BAD it rivals Star Wars prequal BAD.
What do yall think?

i didn't see XXX, but i googled for it and it looked like there were alot of naked people doing some very naughty things in that movie.

Nah, no nudity, just influenced sex scenes and lots of action. Acting was ok, but nothing compares to as bad as ICE CUBE. If anything this movie will be funny to watch just for the ghetto slang of a US secret agent. They did the cool skate boarder style for the first movie and now there bringing the hood into the 2nd one. (To all the African Americans reading this thread, I have nothing against the Hood and ghetto. I just don’t' see ghetto action hero as anything but hilarious.)

It'll be at least justified if 'Cube throws in some sharp observations somewhere, like Vin's guy did in the 'test cafe' scene.

Otherwise, it looks like it'll just be pleasing to the guys on the Farm Report and Movie Blow-Up. "Blowed up real good!"

Any time I read someone say something like this, I have to wonder... it's akin to the "some of my friends are black" line of defense. Ice Cube grew up a rapper in LA, and that affects his performance in film no more than the fact that Will Smith grew up a rapper in Philadelphia. No one watching Three Kings filps out because there's a gangsta rapper playing a soldier. He's just an actor, and I think he's probably shown more range over his relatively mediocre career than Vin Diesel has.

That said, the XXX movies are obviously nothing but a gimmick and wouldn't be any good if everyone starring in them was an Oscar winner.

Vermilion, I get your point. I just think it’s really hilarious that the first movie is all skater extreme and the second is lea now playing on gangster hood, bling bling lingo. He may be trying but all his movies are the same. Bling bling, YEAH YEAH.
Personally, I like Vin diesels acting much more. Its abit cleaner and less annoying than Bling bling. At times his acting can be over done, cheesy and repetitive, but at least he is acting in different varieties of personalities. Pitch black (tough guy killer), XXX (skater), A Man Apart (revengeful).

Exactly, Mishra - when *isn't* Vin Diesel playing some sort of hardass tough guy? Even 'The Fast and the Furious' is pure macho schtick. Ice Cube, while not a particularly great actor himself, has played a soldier in Three Kings, a barber in Barbershop, a dope-smoking slacker in Friday, monster bait in Anaconda, a Martian prisoner in Ghosts of Mars, etc etc. At the very least, he can do comedy. On the other hand, I think Vin Diesel has only had film role in which he didn't carry guns or kill people, five years ago in Boiler Room.

Again, Ice Cube's not this generation's Sidney Poitier, no doubt, but listeing to your "brotha" and "bling bling" comments, Tubboy, I think the hangup about him being a black from the 'hood is your issue and not something everyone is seeing on screen.

XXX2 will suck tremendous balls, this is certain. That trailer was god awful.

I do not particularly care for Vin much, but I enjoy stupid action movies so he usually makes movies I will watch. So I watched XXX, drank bourbon and was not really bored. It's not gonna make my top ten list, but it fits into my list of movies I can turn on and watch no matter how much I have missed!

I actually consider Ice-Cube a bigger name, so I will reserve judgement. He would have to make a really shitty XXX sequel to make a worse movie.

Couldn't be any worse than the first. The best part about xXx was when my cousin an I rented it along with "Blow," my grandmother thought we had rented two pornos. We had a good laugh. We had several more laughs when we started watching the movie. Whoever wrote that movie couldn't have been serious; I mean, everything was so exaggerated and the story was so generic that it was self-parodying.

Ugh, no more of these movies. Granted I'd prefer to see Cube in it over Vin. I think Vin sucks and is nothing more that a throwback to the action stars of the 80's early 90's. No acting skill, just muscle

Just saw the trailer and it looks like another box office smash, I really think cube will get the Oscar for this one. The last one was akin to the greats sharp witty dialogue compelling believable plot all held together with Oscar winning acting. Truly moving stuff especially the part at the end I nearly cried when I thought Van died....
