I guess I'll be the translator here. Just in case your being sincere (Har har.).
You would probably have an easier time just asking for help on your own skin, then trying to have one of us make a skin for you in the disguise of a contest. This is an obvious atempt at tricking one of us. I can tell you that the people here, are some of the brightest I've met.
I gave you a suggestion to help, you really dont have to be a jerk about it. If your intentions were to see creativity on your already exsisting model, then search the forums for how this is done.
Most people create an SDK (Skin Development Kit in this case.) of the model for other people to volunteer skins for. Your not really running a contest, there is no prize. Why don't you simply stop the deception and ask for real help in another thread.
You will never be more then a mod monkey if you fire insults at the people on this board. They are all creative, and most are industry employed. As much as i'd like to flame you for this, I've offered suggestions. Take them before you make a bad name for yourself. I'm barely a year older then you, no one called you a child. You implied/assumed that yourself.
Usually texture artists will only enter contests (or start doing textures) in their spare time if they have an idea or a theme for their own personal gratification.
Having to enter a contest and then being told that the texture MUST resemble a very specific theme (in this case, C&C NOD troops), will alienate a huge amount of people, because it drastically cuts down on artistic freedom.
If you want someone to do a better texture for your mod - post a request in the Requests forum, obviously that way if anyone WANTS to do a skin for it, they will reply and get to work. Personally I think the texture you have done is more than acceptable quality for a mod.
If you instead just posted this model as an SDK, without this half-hearted "contest" idea, some people might have been tempted to texture it in their own style and theme, but obviously that would have been no use to you, and now you have made your intentions clear, I don't know if many people will want to texture this for your mod.
I wouldn't say publicity and credits are a prize in this sense, more a given - if I made a texture and it was used in any mod, I would expect to see my name in the credits anyway! So it's not really a prize, more of an agreement which comes with doing the texture in the first place... otherwise all your mod team are winning prizes every time they finish a model or a texture... and I assure you that when you are doing mod work for free, very rarely does it feel like you've won anything upon finishing one small asset for a much larger game. Only if the final product was good overall quality and experience for all involved, THEN I would regard it as a prize worth having.
like i said...this has been done before.
people want help improving the quality of their modification by disguising the work in the form of a contest. that's not wise. your basically advertising how bad your texturing skills are. if you want advice...just ask.
this is a creative forum...very creative.
no one is going to give the effort to improve your sub-standard generic model texture for "credits" on a mod no one has heard of with the hopes of gaining publicity.
If you simply want to release the mesh as an SDk for the community (without design guidelines), you may get more attention.
If you want crits on your mesh...those shoulders are terrible. I would improve that before releasing it. The rest isn't bad.
There is a terrific contest happening over at the CGtalk game art forum. It's well organized by the members themselves.
man I don't know where you're putting the polys, might be on the back since you're not showing screenshots of that. but yeah you have as much detail in that 1700 poly model as there is in quake 3s 800 and less poly models, you have to get better with your modeling first if you want people to be excited about texturing it, nothing worse than skinning a bad model. optimize it and check out some websites of the guys on this forum alot of them have wireframes of their models so you can see how they did certain parts of their models, don't take them as THE ways to do it, everyone will find their own techniques, but just keep doing and posting it up here, if you get a good ammount of work and you show people that you're serious with this mod and that it WILL get done AND you make a really good model with a really good set of UVs... like I mean REALLY GOOD no wasted polys, no wasted detail and no wasted UV space, which is the kind of things you should try and do as much as you can with every single model you do, thats how you get better.
anyways man, just keep making these and if you come up with a really cool character THEN setup a skinning contest.
