Hey, sorry I dropped off the face of polycount for so long...I've just been in the zone lately makin' stuff...a little bit of everything actually so here's a big fat update...
Here are some low poly Totoro's I made for next months SFN theme, I unwrapped them not knowing whether or not I'd paint the fur on so they got unwrapped regularly. Since I went with the cel shading I'd probably give the detailed areas a lot more space if I did it again...
Here's the wires and flats for them...
This is my anthropomorphic character for the
East vs West USA Thunderdome challenge on conceptart.org. Poop set the challenge at 500 poly's and a 256 texture map with no bump or spec...
a manbat sketch from sketchgroup which I did a half ass paint job on for last months SFN subject...
Jumped in to help out on Poops Italy project and did this guy
I can't take credit for his concept I just made him to match the sketch as close as possible...If you know who did it poop let me know so I can give the concept artist his due credit...
These are some quick weapon thumbs I've been tossing around for a personal project...One of many many pages...been really getting into making thumbnails with a sharpie and white prismacolor lately...
Probably the coolest thing in the last while was putting together a Jam book with the other guys at SFN. We printed up 100 copies of our sketch book and took it out to the Wizardworld comicon in Dallas and sold 'em out... met a lot of great people out there and we'll definately be doing another one next year. You might recognize some of the sketches from the pimp a day thread I did a while back but here's a couple of the pages I had in there...
anyways thanks for looking...now I gotta get to work on something for the sketch thread....

Really dig the Totoro's. They should go play with my model of Mei
How do you make such a toon shader?
I'm struck by your low-poly head guy, it's giving me some kind of inspiration with its hard-edge tones. I like the crooked yellow teeth and wet-specular lip, and the stringy beard. Looks like a sleazy character to me. I think he'd probably need some massive speech therapy.
Said it before -- what's up with those lazy hooves on the man-bat?!?
All cool, man, gotta step up myself, now...

digit!
Your 2d work has always been great, but I've never seen your 3d stuff.
That head looks fantastic, although I'd say that the ears need a bit more lovin'. Maybe some hair to blend them into the side of the head a little better. They are currently suffering from juststuckon-neosis.
the 2 fatsy creatures on the last page would be my fav droppings
post some more why dont u
Ikrann: Awesome start on Mei I'd love to see her finished up, you've got a good likeness going;)Drop me a pm or e-mail and I'll send you the shader set up I've been using...
Ghostrider: I totally agree with you about the horns, in fact I have a version where I started them but I couldn't convincingly squeeze them into the 500 poly limit and have a functioning mouth and eyes:/ and I'd love to get you a book but they all sold out:( I was barely able to hold back a couple copies for the family but I'll keep you posted for next years edition;)
...can't promise any pimp a day threads for a bit Jeffro but definately a few more updates...I'm thinking about making the pimp a day thread a yearly thing...I have a good feeling it'll be back early next spring;)
I was shocked to learn that the totoro was a 3d model it looks soooooo true to it with cell shading. I shouldve known after seeing Enko's kirby thread.
The buffalo bill is really cool, I think maybe you could work on the ear skin a bit more, they dont seem to have that soft floppiness that goat ears have (goat?) they seem to have like a seperation between the top and the bottom.
I started laughing out loud after seeing your avatar, and im in the student computer lab with all of these hot babes sitting around me, and they all looked at me like i was insane, thanks alot. any more of those sketchbooks for sale? Id love to get my hands on one.
