yay. a life drawing thread! While I think the lot of you are quite a bit better I'm just happy to be back and drawing after all this time. Some great work in this thread.
Awesome stuff in here, love the varient of styles. Top notch! Here are a few of my own pieces, and I hope to see this thread continue, as life drawing is something that should get some respect.
I figured I should get in on this action, now that I'm finally drawing from life again...
Shotgun and prior, you guys are inspirational!
This model was the most awesomest model I've drawn from. Check out some of these poses. She could only hold most of them for 10 minutes, but still.. it's rare to find a model who enjoys coming up with such crazy poses.
Here are a few more pieces to add to this thread.
Shotgun, thanks for the kind comments...and ditto about your work. I especially like the lady with the collar, great wieght and line quality to your work.
Noserider, I love the classic feel to your work, and the use of positive and negative shapes.
Pior, nice work as usual!
Pior, you know how Feng Zhu puts down line art and uses PrismaColor Markers....try that. I think markers would look great with your line style. Your powder charcoal reminds me of markers.
I've been playing around with 10, 30, 50, 70, 100 percent black/grey markers, and I like the result.
dont you just hate those models..?
their face is beautiful, they manner is very sexy, but they have let their body down too much
you cant help but wonder "what if..", and you always have conflicting thoughts while you are drawing them..
do you know what im talking about?
anyways, unapropriate thoughts aside, great control in these, good to see u posting man.. deffinately keep it up.
haha
right on bro, u know exactly what i mean.
tbh the intellect of a woman is far more important than a few flaps of fat.
besides, u know what they say about the chubbies
Necrothread no more!
Thought of putting these in a digital sketchbook but I find it more motivating when everybody puts up things in a shared thread, for suggestion and critiques.
Finally have access to newsprint, loving it! First two are charcoal, next are Nupastels. The one on a 5/10 grey background was done on a spray paint base. It makes newsprint hard and smooth and allows for complete erasure. Will coat tons of pages for next time!

Why, that's a genius idea! What kind of spraypaint do you use?
And, since I've just recently gotten back into figure drawing...
What an awesome thread I am glad it has been brought back from the dead.
Now I am incredibly sad I'm out of school and don't have life drawing all the time... DAMN do I miss it. Not sure where I have that I could go to now...
Amazing stuff, post again people! Do it! I wanna see more!
Funka--Lovely penwork, the shading with the pen looks really awesome!
Struve--Such a soft and beautiful style, it's awesome. How do you make your shadows so flowy and yet still properly convey the shape and definition of the body? I'm impressed
Great stuff, more! -sniffs- I'm so jealous, I miss my life drawing class... I'm so deprived of drawing naked peoples....
struve im impressed you do a terriffic job of keeping soft shadows while it can be quite tempting to go too dark while using charchoal...unless its vine, but it dosnt appear to be, nice work!

I'm familiar with opencanvas, but I use Multi Layer with my digital drawings in Photoshop.....I don't know if opencanvas has that layering system?
Drawing more naked people. I'm forced to do it.

I've been playing around with different mediums in different life drawing classes.
1st one to the left is just a 40 minute prisma color cool grey marker drawing, 2nd is a 40 minute digital color photoshop drawing from life.
Y'know, traditional art classes are important....eh, whatever.
My drawings here are really huge (1m/30inches tall) so these are all photos of them.
