Never had any problems setting up a game LAN with XP.
But thanks for the info.
[boot loader]

default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WIN5="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect

I have two installations of win2k on the first partitions of two different harddrives. You should be in a similar situation, right?
WINNT
WIN5
I have
WINNT
WINNT
Which seems to confuse the hell out of the computer.
Now I can only boot into Win2k.
If I select Windows XP it tries to boot into Win2k for some reason.
Which I don't understand why because the OS'es are on seperate HDD.
@frosty: Tried that already also still a no go.
Windows 2000 could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: \WINNT\SYSTEM32\CONFIG\SYSTEMced
The "ced" is part of the regular Windows 2000 message where you press F8 to get more startup options
