Its got to be one of the best "likeness" shots ive ever seen.... i know you said its done , but there seems to be a problem in the area the brow meets the forehead , from his expression shouldnt he have a slightly more pronounced wrinkle in the centre of the forehead above the nose ...
Daz, great work. One of the best likenesses I've ever seen of a famous person.
Mind you, his jacket is definitely too saturated, maybe a little dark too, and I think the split up the front of his collar should maybe be slightly more pronounced and irregular.
Damn, that kicks ass!
Is face is so lifelike it's scary.
There's something not natural about his jacket. Maybe it's just because there is so much plain green in the image next to this uber detailled face.
You should send this in for the next Expose contest!
Woooo! Amazing. That's probably about as good as it gets, so yeah, DONE. You do great justice to Cushing himself, Daz, the face that says 'Hammer Horror'!
dag on dazzo, it just looks so real and cool. I think my biggest complaint would be on the skin map. I know you posted the flat before, and it just seemed not to have enough little variations in it. this one goes a bit overboard, but you get what i mean http://www.poopinmymouth.com/process/texturing_theory/cinemamap.jpg
I think just a bit more noise, to both the color map and bump map would be the only way to improve this one
Ack Bloodyhell. You bastards are right about his jacket really Ah well, thanks all. Mebbe I'll fix it sometime.
Clothing is such a chore to me. If I could make just heads for the rest of my 3D life Id be happy!

your hard work has paid off, this piece looks like it was a huge educational experience.
i really like the tired meat sacks under his eyes. the hair is amazing. if you just sit back and look at it non-critically, it is simply amazing. i love his careful expression. the glamor blur is an interesting contrast in subject. makes me think of dorothy from the wizard of oz movie. it makes it look much more real.
critically, i think the brow could use more accurate skin folds brow frown lines
and i hate starwars! why won't it just go away!? =p .. but i love what you have created here, nicely done.
The only thing which catches my eye is the reflection in the left eye (right for us people looking at him); the bright reflection in the upper part looks like it should curve just a little with the shape of the eye...but then again, I don't know what's being reflected
At an earlier stage I thought the mesh was awesome but thought the texture was seriously lacking.
Looking at the final result has actually blown me back and totally changed my thoughts on that.
I have to agree the reflection on the left eye appears somewhat out of place and the obvious flaws in the cloth but else it's bloody fantastic!
Very very nice. It's great to see stuff like this around here. Your work with the shader and the texturing I think is what is most impressive to me, especially since most of us game artists have never really spent the time putting some maps and settings together to get realistic skin. Could you maybe post some flats of the color and spec maps? Even just cutout sections of the eye area would be nice
Nice work, saving to my inspiration folder with the other wip's of this guy. Did you do the bloom and noise in photoshop or did you try doing them in the Maya render?
See. This is the kind of artwork I have to try and stack up to at work. WTF?!
Looks very good. The combination of the expression and his stare give off a very dark, evil and mysterious feel to the portrait.
I wouldn't have any doubt that interest would be plentiful and personally I'd benefit from it greatly being as my knowledge in this particular area is shady at best.
I'd go for it.
I'll get onto it toward the end of this week hopefully.
His body doesnt extend much further beyond this image Im afraid. Hes really just a bust. Im really trying to concentrate on just subD heads these days in what little spare time I get outside of work. Although having said that, that bastard Ruz planted a seed in my mind to give the high res German soldier I was building a complete body, so Im well into that right now. Will post soon.

very nit picky i know ...
really great work tho ..
Bizarrely, your character looks more realistic that the real thing. Superb work Daz.
Although it does look like the outfit is a bit too bright, it looks a bit more muted in the jackablade's picture

I like the style has a very painterly quality to it too. Only crit is maybe make the forehead veins alittle less prominent.
maybe give him some eyelashes

Now I didn't catch any WIPs at the time, but did you make this a complete model or did you 'just' model what was going to be seen in the render?
