Hello everyone,
I’m a beginner C++ programmer and Unreal Engine user looking for a project I could believe in and in which to hone our skills together.
To put this in perspective, I’ve tried this as an hobby in the past but it never panned out, so that little skills I might have acquired then is now long gone and forgotten.
To avoid giving you any Unreal-istic (:D) expectations, below I’ll list my expectations vs yours:
to me this would be an hobby, a way to try and move myself into putting my time to better use and improve myself rather than just playing video-games all day.
therefore the time and effort I would dedicate to it would be that of an hobby. Accordingly, I would expect a relaxed environment with no pressure.
that said, how much time I put into it is also affected by how much I believe in the team and the project itself (it could become more than a hobby).
Most importantly, I would expect to be amongst serious and honest people. Other Adults, so to speak.
Nothing of the kind “I have this idea for a game, you go and make it while I wait”, or more generally any individual trying to take advantage of someone else.
If the project pans-out, fair Rev Share is a given! ![]()
Next, this is what you should expect:
you should expect to be working with an honest individual, with basic knowledge of the C++ language, which translates to: I’ve read through “Principles and Practice Using C++ 2nd Edition”.
Attention though - knowing the language syntax and how it works doesn’t necessarily mean “know how to program”! - I'm working on that.
therefore, for all intents and purposes you should expect someone that knows nothing.
Every new thing requiring implementing or solving, I would have to go and look up online tutorials and documentation, without prior knowledge.
I would be learning as we go.
As an aside, I’m fluent in Italian and English, decent in Japanese and 3D Graphics (although I've put aside that hobby a decade ago).
And also shy - don't expect video calls or similar, I mainly communicate through chat.
Hope I haven’t forgot anything.
And even if it ends up not working out, we part ways and friends as before, so nothing to lose ![]()

Correction - having started few days ago, at present I can program a TriggerComponent and MoverComponent that used together allows for the creation of a pressure plate that open doors, or a moving platform (elevator etc...)
Sample code I wrote:
TriggerComponent
MoverComponent
Simple stuff still, but I'm progressing daily! Ask me in a week and see!
So if you have skills and an idea you would like to realize in Unreal Engine, and you're looking for a programmer with no particular expectations, let me know ![]()

I'll be advancing to the 50 hours "Unreal Engine 5 C++ The Ultimate Game Developer Course" from Stephen Ulibarri next, but I'm still available
