I’m a firm believer that for any modern character artist, mastering Hard Surface workflows is essential—whether it’s tactical gear, cybernetics, or high-end weaponry. To demonstrate my proficiency in this area, I’ve recently completed a technical project: a Realistic Reinterpretation of Genji’s Dragonblade (Overwatch), now fully implemented as a standalone mod in Cyberpunk 2077.
The Goal: To bridge the gap between Blizzard’s stylized aesthetic and CD PROJEKT RED’s gritty, high-tech realism while ensuring the asset is 100% engine-ready.
Technical Competencies demonstrated in this project:
Full AAA Pipeline: Built entirely from scratch. High-poly sculpting, clean retopology, and optimized UV mapping in Blender.
Texturing: Advanced 4K PBR workflow in Substance 3D Painter, focusing on realistic material response (metals, carbon fiber, and emissives).
Implementation (Technical Art): Rather than a simple render, I integrated this asset into REDengine using WolvenKit. I handled the technical setup for standalone integration, including TweakDB entries and custom UI/HUD icons.
I am a detail-oriented artist who understands that a great asset must not only look stunning in a render but also be perfectly optimized for a live game environment.
