Founded in December 2022, Weird Forge is an independent studio from Spain born from the ambition to create a deep strategy experience for seasoned players. We are currently immersed in the development of our first major project: a Dark Fantasy PVP Turn-Based Deckbuilder developed in Unity.

We are looking for creative minds and technical profiles who want to leave their mark on the project. If you are passionate about the genre and motivated to work in a collaborative environment where your artistic vision has a real impact, we want to meet you!

We are looking for specialists across the following disciplines:

  • Concept Artist
  • 3D Artist
  • Character Artist
  • Environment Artist
  • Lighting Artist
  • VFX Artist
  • Tech Artist

General Requirements

  • Proven experience in video game projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Unity and industry-standard tools (ZBrush, Blender/Maya, Substance Suite, etc.).
  • Ability to work iteratively and embrace constructive feedback.
  • A genuine passion for CCGs and strategy games.

Detailed Profiles

🎨 Concept Artist

  • Focus on silhouette, form, and visual communication over "polish."
  • Mastery of concept sheet pipelines, shape exploration, and turnarounds/callouts.
  • Ability to establish style guides and maintain artistic direction.

👤 Character Artist

  • Expertise in form, silhouette, and manual retopology.
  • Full pipeline: Smoothing groups, UVs, Bakes, PBR, and Texture Packing.
  • Experience with Grooming and Atlas generation.
  • Bonus: Experience with version control (repositories).

🌍 Environment Artist

  • Strong grasp of modularity and topology optimization.
  • Pipeline for tileable textures and ad-hoc assets.
  • Scene assembly in Unity: Prefabs, material configuration, and texture tuning.
  • Bonus: Lighting proxies, post-processing, and repository usage.

⚔️ 3D Artist (Generalist)

  • Familiarity with industry nomenclature, scales, and formats.
  • Manual retopology, UVs, Bakes, and PBR.
  • Texture packing, Atlas generation, and LOD creation.

✨ VFX Artist

  • Basic modeling for emitters and VFX elements.
  • Texture creation (Substance Designer) and simulation/sprite sheet generation.
  • Proficiency in Unity VFX Graph and basic shading.
  • Experience with version control (repositories).

💡 Lighting Artist

  • Strong foundation in color theory, focus, and atmosphere.
  • Experience with Unity 6 lighting pipelines (Baked & Real-time).
  • Knowledge of performance optimization (overdraw, light counts, shadows).
  • Mandatory use of repositories.

⚙️ Tech Artist

  • Resource optimization, Shader Graph, and mastery of Unity 6 (URP).
  • Technical management of scenes, materials, and textures.
  • Bonus: HLSL Shaders, procedural tools/automation, and technical documentation.
