CHAPPIE

I’m starting a new personal project to model Chappie, the iconic robot from the movie Chappie. The goal of this project is to create a highly detailed, accurate 3D model while staying true to the character’s original design.
For this stage, I’m gathering and organizing references to guide the modeling process. These include high-resolution screenshots from the film, concept art, and any other visual materials that highlight the robot’s structure, materials, and proportions.
I’m sharing my reference collection here to document my workflow and get feedback from the community. Any suggestions or additional references are greatly appreciated!

Cool project! It seems like you have some AI images on your ref board (not sure since low res). I always recommend people to avoid using "AI references", those are almost always garbage. Especially when it comes to anything robotic/hardsurface. As you said yourself this robot is very iconic, there are tons of references from the actual film-model available. Check out WETA's page, lots of good images there: https://www.wetaworkshop.com/projects/chappie

Also there is a short doc on youtube. Artstation has a lot of "fan" projects and you gotta be careful using other peoples 3D models as reference because you never know how accurate they have been. So if possible I'd only use the references from the actual movie.
