I have a question about cartoon-rendering modeling for an outsourced project

Hello — I have a question about an outsourced project.

The modeling I’m aiming for should match the cartoon-rendering style shown in the photos (two images with completed texturing).

I want to match the style, not the exact appearance.

I have separate concept art.

What I’m wondering is whether the sculpted model the freelancer sent has any structural issues or needs improvements in order to achieve the target cartoon-rendering style.

For example, should the jaw be made sharper, or should the surface be smoothed—are there any changes that are absolutely necessary to complete a cartoon-rendered model?

Or can we proceed directly to texturing in its current state?

I desperately need opinions from experienced artists; any comments would be a huge help.

Additionally, we've decided to reduce the visibility of pores in the current model.

I would suggest applying a skin-colored material to the current model, and put it in the renderer of choice. Before texturing. To see how it actually performs. This should be done periodically during sculpting, not at the end.

I am pretty certain there are Matcaps for zbrush that can replicate this style and if not wouldnt be crazy complex to replicate. But yeah its important to test things early in as close as final shading as possible. These days you could possibly also just send a slightly lower subdiv level into your engine of choice and test there.

Regarding you model, i feel like its worth it polishing out all the bumps and lumps. Even with cel shading, issues like these might still come through and caus faulty shadow/light transitions.
