Hello,
Our indie team is looking for a passionate 3D Artist/Animator to join us in developing our upcoming title - Space Spiders Arena.
About the Project:
Space Spiders Arena is a fast-paced sci-fi arena shooter where players control spider-like robots competing in tournaments that take part across space - from asteroid fields and space stations to the hulls of massive starships.
These robots are a mix of spider, mech and turret. They crawl on four legs, have spherical heads with displays to show their emotional states and have attached weapons on the sides of the head. They move with agility and speed, able to walk on walls and ceilings, defying gravity. Players can also select special movement abilities such as double jumps, jetpacks, grappling hooks, dashes or sprints.
Current Status:
We’re building upon the solid foundation from our previous(now-cancelled) project, and have already completed or are testing:
Multiplayer functionality
Player movement system(in testing)
UI panels(functional, need visual update)
One working weapon prototype
Leaderboard system
We are currently using temporary free/purchased assets as placeholders.
Roadmap:
Our immediate goal is to build a Minimum Viable Product that includes:
1 game mode;
1 map;
1 playable character;
1 movement ability;
A few switchable weapons;
Fully functional multiplayer.
Once this MVP is ready and the game is in playable state, we’ll
launch a pre-alpha on Itch…io to gather feedback and build our
community.
In parallel, we’ll begin preparing Steam page materials, gameplay
videos, and pitch decks to approach publishers and investors for
funding.
Further goals would be to release a full, paid version with more functionality and content.
Art Style, Tasks and Requirements:
We’re aiming for a simple, low-poly sci-fi art style - clean, consistent and performant.
We’re looking for someone to help create:
A main robot model, with a basic rig and a few key animations(some may be handled in Unity later);
Weapon models and related VFX(projectiles, muzzle flashes, impacts);
A map environment(the first arena will feature modular platforms, covers, and interactive elements);
Consistency and creativity are more important than ultra-high fidelity.
Not all of these resources are required to be developed from scratch, we want to work smart and apply as much third party assets that fit within the art style, while working on future release we will want to move to more custom assets.
Our main requirement for this position is to have intermediate or
higher Blender knowledge, confidence and motivation to develop games and
learn.
Knowledge of Unity is not required, but would be nice to have, we could teach Unity tools throughout the development.
About the Team:
Our team members have up to 7 years of game development experience,
having worked on mobile games, technical prototypes, and AA-level
multiplayer titles - including projects with Web3 integration - as lead
or senior developers.
We are an experienced, collaborative and motivated group, confident in
our abilities to create more demanding titles with unique gameplay
mechanics, looking for like-minded creators who want to bring a unique
idea to life.

Compensation:
This is a collaboration-based position - there is no upfront pay, but the goal is to develop a strong prototype, attract funding and share future revenue once the project is commercialized.
It’s a great opportunity for someone who wants to:
Contribute creatively to a game from the ground up;
Build portfolio-quality 3D work;
Be part of an ambitious, friendly indie team;
