Weird bug uploading certain images?

Sorry if this isn't in the right place; I wasn't sure where best to post it.

I've noticed there's a weird bug when I try to upload some images. I'll often get a random image that fails to upload when it's not too dissimilar to others in size, resolution, and format. I've noticed the ones that load successfully tend to have a slight upload delay. Whereas the ones that fail don't and the bar goes across too quickly? For instance, I've had JPEG and PNG images fail to load, but if export a BMP so it's larger, they upload. Although I have had the reverse happen where a big file that's 7Mb fails to upload, but when lowered it then uploads, such as these GIFs I did to show the problem.

Looks like .gif works. I would only use .jpg and stay away from 7mb file sizes.

I don't think the first one did initially. I had to optimise and lower the size down before it uploaded. I'll try just using JPGs from here on, but I'm sure the same issue happens whether with JPG or PNG.

Yeah i ran into this thing, idk, i just use outside sources now since i can't be bothered.

Just to mention cause its what i use, hopefully they do not do anything with the imgs they say the remove them after 1 hour or so.

So you have to save the files & reupload elsewhere, but i use the video to gif website, i use it cause for whatever reasons, it lowers videos to gif better than any of the applications i tried.

It gets really low & i try to avoid the mentioned high files sizes, i try to pay attention to those & try not to be gif heavy but its the best option atm for me (& some others) to display our stuff.

i suppose if polyount site forums could somehow add-in an artstation video "plugin", like the youtube video insert option, I'd probably stop using the gif heavy route.  It would also lessen the load on the site and move it to theirs, but yeah f@ceb0ok issue and collecting things... i can see an issue but its also a solution, can't win either way it seems. Just adding in things since its kind of on topic.

Yeah it's just a bit slow sometimes. The forum software has to scrub your images before hosting, remove metadata, bad headers, etc. so there is a conversion step in there. Generally it's best to use JPG, compresses better so it loads faster for your audience.

Our overall footprint is several hundred terabytes these days btw.

If you want video, I can recommemd hosting a mp4 somewhere, pasting the URL in your post, and changing the .mp4 into .gifv which works great. More info on that here https://polycount.com/discussion/150407/animation-forum-how-to-post-your-work/p1

Was that meant to be a link to a website? Because the link doesn't work. Just curious what the site is so I can give it a try. ^^

No, iam717 just likes using colored text.

One of the best GIF (and video) makers I've found: Screen2GIF. You can also use iot to make mp4, webm, apng, etc.

Ahh, I see. ^^ Great. Thanks. I'll give it a go and see what it's like. I've used EZGif, but I'm happy to swap to something else if Screen2GIF is better.
