Started this last year and finally got around to finishing it. Some more shots and breakdown images are on my ArtStation post here.

Open to critique on both the project and portfolio presentation :)

    Wow, this is incredible! My first thought was that it could easily be mistaken for an actual shot from the movie. 😮
    The attention to detail, especially the subtle wear on the books, is really impressive!

    I’d love to see a few closer shots of the individual props, there’s so much craftsmanship here that deserves to be highlighted.


    The central floor area looks slightly different compared to the film, though it’s hard to tell if that’s due to lighting differences or your own artistic interpretation.

    Either way, amazing work! It’s clear a lot of thought and effort went into this. Quite a difficult project you got here, but looks great! :+1:  =)

    Thanks! The books were the most satisfying part for me as the whole thing felt off before I got them in the scene. It's only 5 different models, each with a unique set of details on the texture sheet. The heavy lifting is really being done by the master material I made in UE5 that's giving color and wear variety based on world position. 

    I do have a render of all my props laid out on my ArtStation post but I'm guessing you are talking about some more close ups in the final environment. I think the only close up render I took was of the pain box, but I should definitely go back in and take some more close ups!

    Not sure if you mean the hardwood part or the rug, but I'm guessing the rug. I ended up giving it more color and definition than the reference cause I wanted it to stand out. Getting that pattern accurate was one of the hardest things of this whole project and I guess I wanted to show it off lol

    Your link to Artstation doesn't work. I get "404 page not found."

    One master material? Sounds very impressive, and a smart way of doing it, instead of giving each type it's own separate material. That would make for a lot of materials haha.  =)

    I can understand why the center of the room, the rug, was so difficult. There are not many clear shots of it in the film. It's difficult to recreate something when you don't have much to go on. But looks great! The painbox looks just as mysterious and eerie as in the film.  :o

    is it just me and my old eyes or is everything super dark?  also thanks for the updated link.  

    Also a movie shot reference page or something might help us whom never seen the movie or remember it can't see the differences between your achievement (project posted) and the goal (movie ref).

    Yeah, it's dark. Someone on Reddit commented about it being hard to see as well. I originally matched the exposure as closely as possible to the stills from the film, but I think this scene in the movie is just a dark scene. I've since updated all the photos on my ArtStation post with brighter ones that should be much easier to see; Although it now doesn't quite match up with the references as well as it did before.

    I included my main reference photo (A still from the movie) in both this thread and the ArtSation post. It's probably a good idea to post my entire reference board with all the still and references I collected though. Thanks for the idea!
