I dont like blinking animation for 3d characters. I love it for 2d characters but I dont think it translates for 3d characters it always looks wooden. I may try a flutter on the eyelid to get something more pleasing and more in line with 2d animation. for a blink but just moving the eyelid up and down does not look good for the 3d characters. in first post the eyeball itself is animated and the white underneath is animated. the cheeks and mouth. the snap on the animation is not needed just put it on there for the sake of experimentation. breathing is very needed and useful thanks for the link.
this link is unrelated to the first I have done characters with wings but not more than 2. this one has more than 2. I was surprised how much it changed everything with just a few more wings
If not blinking then maybe at least subtle darting/shifting/trembling of the irises. As I understand, even when a person intentionally tries to hold their gaze at a single point, the eye/brain mechanism still automaitically captures several different "frames" of the image.
the problem with moving the iris alone is. I did not set it up that way. when I want to move each I do even in 3d. I separate the eye into 3 parts for independent movement. but for this one. I went with a single sphere for each eye. movement is done by bone animation. but the eye is changing shape despite being bone animation. I can move just the iris bone alone and see what it looks like. its something to try
I do not have a problem getting emotion from the face. Im looking for a subtle looped motion that uses the least amount of motion
this link and the one above have the same setup. while the eyelid is not rigged everything else can move. I could have the skin move around the face. but Im trying to avoid that. by just using the eyes cheeks and lips
