Add shell to thin object in 3ds max script

Hi everyone.
Is it possible by the max script to add a shell modifier to the object if it's thin? (I mean if it has no thickness at all)

think you'd need to define "thin".

here's a macro script which should do the job, it'll add a shell mod to any node in the current selection with open edges
