I’m very happy to share with you this finished sculpt, my first fanart collectible figure. It started as an anatomy excercise which later turned into my own version of Brian Pulido’s Lady Death.
It’s very special to me as this is my first time for lots of things: First time sculpting a semirealistic figure, first time sculpting a female and first time preparing a piece for 3d printing.
With this piece I gained a huge amount of learnings and I’m very proud of it. Obviously it has room for improvement in different areas but, as I heard some years ago, good is better than perfect.
The visual approach is more a personal interpretation of Lady Death, for this reason I moved away from the traditional way this character is depicted. The clothes not only work as an erotic/sexy outfit, they also reinforces the idea that she is a supernatural warrior by using a leather armor with a few metal ornaments.
Another modification I implemented was the hair color, there are two reasons for this: 1-It gives the character a more modern look, she looks kind of gothic/punk and 2- it creates a focal point by increasing the contrast between the desaturated skin and the vibrant bluish hair tones.
By the way, throughout the whole process I couldn’t help but to think about the song “Long hard road out of hell” by Marilyn Manson, it gave me a great amount of inspiration.
