So I've been modeling a cassette player (the image provided is a closeup of one part of it. I'm trying to practice making cleaner models especially when they're smoothed out. I could be wrong but I assume the roundness of the edges (the square-ish forming outer edges) encompassing each sphere that are rounded are not the proper way of leaving the edges. So how do I go about fixing these? Do i leave them as if? Is this even a problem or am I being nitpicky? These are assets I want to be able to put in my portfolio so I want to show that I can make things clean.

What you might want to do is to make the surrounding rectangle around the hole really square. WIth the current shape the subdiv gives you a squished result as you can see. And you might want to add the one or another extra edge. You could also make the surrounding rectangle arond the hole a bit more circle shape already. Or add another loop inbetween that is more round already.
The rest depends. Does the shading show problems? Is this geometry shown from close? SDS makes me think so.
