[FINISHED] Scifi Antenna

Hello !

In order to learn Maya, I decided to create this scifi Antenna station.

This asset is largely influenced by Skylar Zhang Artwork : https://www.artstation.com/artwork/K5KXX
However, I decided to change some shapes and connexions between elements.

This is a great learning exercise, and I plan to make basic rigg to have simple animations.

Do you see any things that could be change or improved about the overall design ? This is still WIP. I'm currently finishing to clean shapes and topology, and make proper subdivision models. Some parts are still at blocking stage and need refinments.

Hello! It's been a long time since the last update, but I finally found some time to continue working on this model. I refined the high-poly version and created a low-poly model with around 11.6k triangles. Here’s the result after baking the maps. The mechanical arm is split into separate pieces for animation.

Hello ! WIP of texturing phase. Some materials are still placeholder at this time and i'm still figuring out which details I want to add. Not exactly sure about colors yet.

Hello ! I've made some slight changes to the color scheme of the assets. What do you think? I'm planning to tweak a few parts, add some more details, and polish the screen then it should be ready. I'm still not sure if there are enough details though. In the end, it still feels a bit flat to me.

Looking good! Also, as far as adding more details goes, depends on the details I'd say. I personally don't think that it's needed, you already modified the design a lot from the original concept and added details that were not there. Eyes need areas of rest, just overloading everything with details will make the design worse.

Thanks Kosh3d ! Yes you're right. Maybe I should just polish the texturing and just add a little bit more uniqueness in wear and tear. I think the flatness feeling I get is more related to the quite basic geometry I have and a slight lack of primary shapes.

I'm almost done with the texturing. Here are a few renders made in Unreal! Any feedbacks on texturing and lighting is more than welcome

I would suggest softening the shadows from the red light, so it's easier to see what shading is coming from the lighting.

It would also be great to see a couple closeups with wireframe vs final render. Something like this maybe, but better quality, matching angles, you know the drill.
