Anything to keep in mind for my first day?

Hello internet friends  :)

I've recently been picked up by a really interesting studio with a hybrid work schedule and I'll be starting in May. I have the employee handbook and had all my technical questions answered pre / post-employment. It's a junior position. I'll be relocating for the position ~3 hours away from where I currently live. I've never worked an office job before either.

I'm wondering what are some things to keep in mind that don't have anything to do with the studio in specific, more just starting a career as a 3D artist in general. Something you wish you knew when you started out, perhaps?

Thanks for the help, all.

If you dont understand quite what you're being asked to do then there's no shame in asking for more clarity - this applies in terms of work, filling in your tasks, whatever

oh - and don't be the first person to drop a c-bomb in a meeting

don't point out any of their flaws, no matter how right you are. Are they doing something in a suboptimal way? Doing something blatantly incompetent? Don't be the bearer of bad news. Most people don't like being corrected or criticized. You can figure out how to bring attention to things later on, when your working relationship is better established.

Don't knock over and smash the glass hand sanitiser bottle when leaving at the end of your first day.

More helpfully, depending on the studio be comfortable not being super useful for the first few weeks (or however long). Use the time to absorb as much as you can from your coworkers and managers. Feedback I got from my first role was actually to spend more time pestering my coworkers to see what they were doing. Your mileage may vary of course, but you are a junior, you're there to learn.
