working in windows 10 and maya 2022/2023

This is probably a stupid question but it is something that bugs me endlessly and I have not found an answer.

If I copy a file from windows explorer and paste into maya, for example a filepath for a texture to use in a material, this bit is always added: file:///
for example : file:///C:/Users...

in order for the file to work I have to manually delete the file:///

It is weird because if I paste a filepath into other programs I get : "C:\Users...."
but if I use copy as path to get that format in maya, it cannot find the file

So is there a way I can fix this behavior in maya so that I can copy and paste like a sane person?

Some resolution to this problem, but coming from a plugin.

I am using this alternative windows explorer here : https://files.community/

Among other things, it has a copy as path command that paste into maya as a readable format. Did not get the plugin for this exact reason, however it solves this problem so I just mention for posterity.
