Hey there, i'm trying to bake a high-to-low poly model but I'm having some issues,
I'm using this high model as a test:
first I tried to bake with Substance Painter and here's the result:
then I tried to use Marmoset toolbag 4 and I got this result:
I think its an issue with the normals, I tried to export as obj and fbx, flip, and reorient normals but nothing changed.
all the tutorials out there are straightforward and they don't have to do anything special for this to work, I hope someone can help me figure it out.
thanks!

Generally, I'd make sure to check the applications' documentation and read about baking in general (Toolbag Baking Tut, Polycount Wiki Texture Baking)
or
and my low poly is a simple box:
If you want to bake a handle onto a flat surface, as Neox already wrote, account for skewing due to an average normal cage (or add during texturing, or in engine as decal). When using floaters, shape them accordingly, as sharp corners won't show up in the normal map. I think many problems can be accounted for in the design of a prop too (inset handles?).
Best way to learn, imo, is to make an actual prop.
this was very helpful, thank you so much.
I got the result I wanted by using skewing and following the tips in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8W7txa9ltBw
