About Our Project
We are building a first person, single-player, science-fiction adventure in Unreal Engine 5. It’s
an original IP, driven by exploration and rich narrative. Our game is narrative-driven and rich
with opportunities for visual world-building through unusual environments, bizarre biologies, and environmental effects.

Visual Development Artist Wanted!
We are seeking a Vis-Dev Artist with the desire and ability to help us design a new sci-fi world
with a unique visual identity.

You will collaborate with the creative leads to craft the aesthetic style of our first game: an
original sci-fi IP built in UE5. The project is narrative-driven and rich with opportunities for visual world-building through unusual environments, bizarre biologies, and environmental effects. Players will be incentivized to slow down and appreciate the details of the worlds we build. Aspart of our small, experienced team, you will have the opportunity and the responsibility to push the style and the visual quality of the game.

The specifics of this role depend upon your specific skills, strengths, interests, and availability. Your ability to help our team develop an evocative and unique visual style is the main priority. The approach you bring to that work will be informed by your strengths, whether those lie in illustration, 3D modeling, procedural toolsets, etc.

Examples of Your Contributions
● Communicate key goals and concepts behind our visual style to both artists and non-
artists
● Work with concept artists to guide stylistic cohesion across many subject areas
● Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to realize our style goals in UE5
● Align on mood & tone goals with narrative and creative directors
● Assist art team with reference gathering and iteration in pursuit of visual style

Requirements
● Strong sense of visual style. Your work is visually exciting and supports our goal to
develop a fresh and distinctive look that sets our game apart from other science fiction
settings.
● Excellent visual, verbal and written communication skills. You are able to communicate
fluently with other artists, as well as non-artists.
● A portfolio demonstrating a strong understanding of color, form, light, and composition.
● Ability to understand technical limitations and collaborate with non-artists.
● Ability to deliver sketches and paint-overs that communicate your ideas.

Nice-to-have Skills & Experience
● Management experience is a plus, as this role will involve coordination between artists
and the rest of the project team. Candidates taking on management duties as part of this
role will be considered higher-seniority.
● Experience with game engines, especially Unreal Engine/UE5
● Experience creating procedural assets, especially with Houdini, Unreal
● Portfolio examples of sci-fi, weird, stylized, and/or high-fidelity environments.
● Experience working with Unreal-specific features, especially Materials, Nanite and
Lumen
● Experience working with outsource/co-developers, creating briefs, managing the
feedback loop

Work Culture + Expectations
● We are a fully remote studio, with travel opportunities for events and/or team summits.
Travel is optional for most roles.
● We are distributed across North American time zones. Expect flexible work hours,
prioritizing asynchronous communication, with meetings during shared core hours.
● Anyone able to legally work in the USA or Canada may be considered. As an Ontario-
based organization, those working from within Ontario are especially encouraged to

● Our language of communication is English. Fluency in written and spoken English will be
important for you to fully participate in workplace discussions.
