Hey world, I'm asking to see if anyone has any suggestions on how to model the underside of these mushrooms. I've thought of using Zbrush, but I don't want to model, then sculpt, then re-topo, then bake every single mushroom, so I thought I would try Maya's curve tool to manually draw the curves onto the existing geo and then use the new sweep mesh tool. I tried this, but couldn't get the SSS to look right. I also tried using Substance Painter to maybe use displacement to get the look, but couldn't get lines to follow the direction of geo.
If anyone has any suggestions or other alternatives, that would be very much appreciated. I'm trying to get better with organics and higher level of technicalities in Maya. Those curves where made manually, but I have no doubt that there's a way to quickly make them procedurally.
