Looking for 2D Digital Artist for Webtoon/ Graphic Novel Collaboration Project
I'm looking for a 2D digital artist to work with me on a collaboration project to create a webtoon/graphic novel. This is a voluntary role and, as such, wouldn't have any minimum hours requirements - just an informal weekly checkpoint to discuss the project and any progress. I am a novel writer mainly (with a six book series currently in the pipeline) and have not worked on a webtoon before so am looking for someone willing to learn and grow with me on this journey. The premise for this project is, in my opinion, far better suited to a webtoon/ graphic novel than a traditionally written book.
I am aware that this is a large undertaking for a writer and artist so I would be more than willing to take on a number of tasks to keep the workload for the project manageable. I am confident with the script and storyboarding and would be willing to support with flatting and lettering if needed but am not as confident in these areas. The project currently has a plot summary (relatively detailed) from beginning to end. All other elements would be discussed collaboratively to allow the artist and writer to really feel invested in the project.
The end goal for this project is to upload it to Webtoons Canvas. Of course, each episode would credit the team (writer and artist) and could include any social media handles etc desired. Due to the collaborative nature of the project, if any further propositions were to come from the upload, decisions on these would be made jointly between myself and the artist.
The Project
- Plot explores the possibility that Ursula from The Little Mermaid is not the villain she's made out to be.
- Origin story/ alternate perspective on events as they unfold.
- The art style should be soft and fantasy-esque to reflect this reframing of Ursula's story.
Requirements
- 2D digital artist able to work on platform of choice - as long as final files are compatible with Webtoon.
- Proficient in drawing humanoids, backgrounds and colouring digitally.
- Able to work cohesively with others to produce a quality end product.
Nice to Haves
- Any experience with creating webtoons/ graphic novels a plus!
