Hi. Is there any way to make substance painter remember the orientation setting from 3d software (I use 3dsmax)? Do I have to manually make a second layer rotated by 90 degrees for some islands to make it look correct?
you can make a tool that will generate direction maps from your UVs in max (or just bake them in designer), build a filter to interpret them in designer and use that to manipulate a layer in painter.
or you can just make a new layer and rotate it.
having done both - I would recommend the second option
