Maya won't snap to points in a single axis?

I can't get Maya to snap to a vertex point on just a single axis like the X axis.

It only works if I snap via the center gizmo (all axis) which is not what I want.

I know i've always been able to snap to a point via just a single axis, but now it just won't work. Any ideas what i'm doing wrong?

Try this:

1. Select the object you wanna move and activate Move Tool
2. Select the handle on the X-axis of the Move Tool (red arrow), so it will turn yellow
3. Press and hold V key. Middle mouse to move object on the X-axis to a vertex
4. Ready

Thanks, for some reason it was bugged. I did end up fixing it by exporting and importing into new scene. The Scene I had was just broken somehow, not sure why, so I ended up moving to another and it worked :)
