I picked up some speaker hats for Black Friday but really wanted to get the console. I think the hardware looks really fantastic but couldn't justify the purchase even though I wanted to.

I feel like this was a missed opportunity in reviving the Atari brand.

I really think all that this venture needed was some new games. You'll often hear the adage of how important games are for the success of a console launch.

If they had built a production team to find fringe hobby programmer designer geeks that build games for old hardware, appraised their work, select and refine...

Roped in an original Atari game designer, gave them a budget...

Roped in a modern console game designer, gave them a budget...

Sought out a cancelled Atari project to revitalize...

Sought out a beloved Atari game designer notebook to inform a design, give it a budget...

These games could probably be created pretty quickly were they inline with the old spec. Now we're talk'n. Drop the console's price, profit from the new and classic game sales.

Perhaps there's still hope for a return, beyond nostalgia.
