Hello, I'm CC! Longtime polycount lurker here. Currently I am building up my 3D character portfolio and trying to open myself up for freelance & other opportunities, so it feels like a good time to start one of these. Any commentary or critique is appreciated!

Bazt - Sci Fi Alien Character - Hi Poly Sculpt
This model is the result of a CGMA class I took recently for Hard Surface modeling for characters. I wanted to go for something that had a really good balance of organic and hard surface components. I'm still currently polishing it up and getting it game-ready for the portfolio.
The design is based on a concept from Ben Erdt (also the main lecturer for the class). You can find his awesome work here: https://www.artstation.com/benerdt
Part of the objective for the course was to design & model the entire backside of the character from scratch as a bit of a design challenge.
Ben has such an awesome style to his work so it was a lot of fun to get to try out my own take on it.
Another thing I enjoyed figuring out for this project was how to create the look for the external bony structures (the crest running along the character's head & neck). Once I established a directional pattern/flow for the head plates I started to dig in near the edges to give the impression of damage and/or growth lines.
