Hi everyone, I'm a 3D artist based in france. I've lately been working on an insect and am so far done withe the retopo and Base displacement and Normals. I wanted your opinion on how accurate the Mesh includig texes looks. Also how closely the micro tex and the model in general follows the shape of reference beetle, and any opiions or general feedback you could provide, On factors like the Lights,Composition etc and if there are any glaring mistakes.     Thanks! My major issues are that I'm not sure if the head looks good enough, both details and in proportions, and I'm not sure if the tiny displacement will show in the final comp. Will have to wait and see I guess :/ Thanks again for the comment though!

    Hi @Joel_Kida this looks great, from what I can see! The only thing I can comment on is the presentation - the focal length is very low so the model gets distorted by the perspective. The lack of environment makes it a bit difficult to judge the materials and lighting as well.

    Here's an example of a photo that contains good environment, lighting and camera settings (in my opinion):

    The lighting and materials enable us to get a good grasp of form. The foliage/moss under the beetle gives us some sense of size. The light green background complements the dark red beetle and also emphasizes the silhouette, making it easy to see and understand all the details.

    If you're doing closeups, remember to add lots of DoF, so the viewer can get a sense of size.

    Also, is this a low poly model? I'd love to see some wireframes for the topology.

    It's an interesting model and I'm sure you spent a lot of time studying the anatomy, proportions and all the tiny details of this beetle and it shows! Great job :)

    Hi, so sorry for getting back so late, yes this is a low poly! I've attached my wireframes below! And I went for a focal length of 100 mm or so. Not sure what I can do to improve this though in terms of lighting as I think thats the weakest part of the scene for me

    And here are my final shots, I'll probably still fine tune it in my break but for now I think I'll call this one done!
